The Future Is Here
Cultural Diversity
The first wave of Asian Americans have become to be known as “model” Americans. Well-educated and industrious, Asian newcomers contribute to the Virginia society and economy while at the same time maintaining the vitality of their own communities. From Northern Virginia to the Region 2000 to the Hampton Roads area, families worship together at their temples, churches, and mosques.
Many Asian parents send their children for cultural and language instruction and night or weekend religious schools. South Asian parents often send their children to learn classical dance.
Throughout the year the Virginia Asian communities celebrate national independence of their home countries, organize food festivals, religious activities, and authentic Asian festivals to express culture pride.
